Minecraft Dungeons — like its big brother — is taking over the world. Mojang’s dungeon crawler spin-off has gone down a treat with gamers no matter what platform they’re playing on. As PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch owners dive headfirst into Minecraft Dungeons, mobile gamers may wonder if a mobile port will be released at some point. After all, Minecraft is available on every platform these days.
At the moment, no. Minecraft Dungeons can only be bought and played on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. The game’s FAQ section makes no mention of a mobile version either so, currently, there aren’t any public plans for Minecraft Dungeons to get an iOS or Android release.
That isn’t to say that it will never launch on mobile devices, though. As we said, Minecraft is available on every gaming platform you can think of. Minecraft: Pocket Edition — the mobile-friendly version of the original title — was released on iOS in November 2011, but that only focused on the building and primitive survival aspects of the sandbox title.
A full iOS release — and official Android launch — didn’t arrive until December 2016, which was seven years after Minecraft began life on PC. We wouldn’t expect a Minecraft Dungeons mobile port to take seven years to be released, but it’ll take time to port the game to iOS and Android correctly. That is, if one is even in development.
If you want to get your fix of Minecraft Dungeons, you’ve got four platforms to play on right now. We’re hopeful that a mobile version will launch in the future, but there’s no confirmation that one will ever see the light of day.
