Repair the Broken Awoken Talisman & Unlock the Dreaming City in Forsaken

It's time to earn our way into the Dreaming City.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Once you’ve completed the main story of Destiny 2: Forsaken, you’ll be given two further quests. One will lead to the Ace of Spades, and the other one, the Broken Awoken Talisman quest, will grant access to the Dreaming City. Let’s have a look at where to find the missing talisman fragments that the Spider requires to repair the Broken Awoken Talisman.

Defeat the Voice of Riven

As part of the Destiny 2: Forsaken campaign, you’ll defeat the Voice of Riven, and eventually complete the core story. It is now that you’ll be given the “Broken Awoken Talisman” by Petra Venj, who explains that with the help of the Spider, the talisman can be repaired. Once repaired, it will unlock the Dreaming City.

Repair the Awoken Talisman

To repair the Awoken Talisman, the Spider requires you to collect several remaining talisman fragments that can be found within the Lost Sectors of the Tangled Shore. We’ve got details on each of the talisman fragments below.

Talisman Fragments in an Old Corsair Hideout

Shipyard AWO-43

The first Talisman Fragment can be found inside the loot chest in the Shipyard AWO-43 Lost Sector in the Jetsam of Saturn region of the Tangled Shore.

Talisman Fragments in the Heart of Spider’s Web

The Empty Tank

The second Talisman Fragment is located inside the loot chest of The Empty Tank Lost Sector in Thieves’ Landing. This is the Paul McCartney dance lost sector and is quite a fun place to be. After you’ve defeated the boss, head to the right of his throne and you’ll come to the room with the treasure chest. Note that in my experience, you do not always see that you received a Talisman Fragment when you open the chest. If in doubt, check the quest progress in your Pursuits screen.

Talisman Fragments in a Rare Green Place

Trapper's Cave Location

The third and final Talisman Fragment is found in the beautifully green Trapper’s Cave Lost Sector in Four-Horn Gulch.

Key to the Dreaming City

Sanctum of Bones Location

Once you return to the Spider, he’ll repair the Talisman, and it will turn into a Mended Awoken Talisman that now needs to be “imbued with the Darkness” before it can open the door to the Dreaming City. This requires you to kill roughly 300 Taken, a task best performed in the Sanctum of Bones Lost Sector on Io near Asher. Alternatively, you can take on the Lake of Shadows strike on Earth, which was previously only available to PlayStation 4 owners but is now available to all Guardians. Once completed, the Mended Awoken Talisman will turn into an Imbalanced Awoken Talisman.

Semi-Charged Awoken Talisman

The next step requires you to merely complete an Ether Ritual public event in the Four-Horn Gulch region of the Tangled Shore. It does not need to be heroic, though if you’d like to know how to do that, this guide will tell you.

A Hum of Starlight

After the public event, the Spider will give you a Balanced Awoken Talisman and tell you that you now have permission to enter the Dreaming City. You’ll need to meet Petra Venj at the Watchtower to begin the “A Hum of Starlight” mission.

Awakening

Finally, after a short time in the “A Hum of Starlight” mission, you’ll be moved immediately into the “Awakening” quest step, and at its conclusion, you will have access to the Dreaming City.
