Fishing is a fun pastime in Red Dead Redemption 2 and this guide shows you how to catch the big Legendary Fish on your travels.
If you’re anything like me, then you enjoy the variety of fishing and hunting in Red Dead Redemption 2. At some point during the story, you’ll be introduced to the concept of Legendary Fish that can be caught, similar to how Legendary Animals can be hunted. However, if you haven’t yet talked to Jeremy Gill, you’ll have no idea how to catch Legendary Fish. This guide is here to help you out.
A Fisher of Fish – Jeremy Gill
Before you can even attempt to catch Legendary Fish, you’ll need to start the “A Fisher of Fish” quest wherein Jeremy Gill asks you to mail him 13 Legendary Fish. Frankly, I’m surprised the post office would accept such mail; I mean, imagine the smell!
You can find Jeremy Gill at a dock at the northern part of the lake in New Hanover. He’ll tell you that you can now purchase special lures at the bait shop in Lagras and also gives you a rough map of where Legendary Fish are located.
Special Lures – Lake, River, Swamp
Once you have unlocked the special lures by meeting Jeremy Gill, you can head to the bait shop in Lagras. Of course, you’ll need to have progressed a certain way into the main story to have this location available. It is here that you can purchase three special lures, one for lakes, rivers, and swamps. Don’t worry about bait as these special lures are all you need to catch those Legendary Fish.
Catch Legendary Fish
Equipped with the appropriate special lure, head to a location of a Legendary Fish and try your luck. These bad boys are a little tougher to catch so make sure you’ve honed your fishing skills. Once you catch a Legendary Fish, you can head to any post office and mail it off to Jeremy Gill. Again, that’s gross, but I guess FedEx wasn’t invented yet.
Now that you know how to get the special lures needed to catch Legendary Fish, why not head to our Red Dead Redemption 2 Guide Hub for more helpful tips on thriving in the wilderness.
