Since both Pokemon Let’s Go games are remakes of Pokemon Yellow, the third classic title from the mid-90’s, you don’t have the same starter options you used to get. Previously, you could choose from Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle inside Professor Oak’s laboratory in Pallet Town. Your rival would then pick the one that had a type advantage over yours. In Pokemon Let’s Go, however, depending on which version you chose – Pikachu or Eevee – those are the only two Pokemon you can start with. So how do you get Bulbasaur in Pokemon Let’s Go? There are two ways you can obtain everyone’s favorite Grass-type starter, and we’ve covered both ways of capturing Pokemon Let’s Go Bulbasaur here to answer the question: Where is Bulbasaur in Pokemon Let’s Go?

Where is Bulbasaur in Pokemon Let’s Go – Viridian Forest

Pokemon Let’s Go – Bulbasaur • TL;DR Games • Fair Use

Bulbasaur is the first of the three you can stumble upon in the wild while playing Pokemon Let’s Go. You can find it in Viridian Forest, north of Viridian City. More specifically, it spawns at the end of the forest, in the crowded area right before you leave to go to Pewter City.

It’s not merely a case of it spawning randomly though; you need to entice it to spawn. We found it by accident when training up our party to take on Brock at the Pewter City Gym. You’re going to want to either use a Lure to encourage rarer Pokemon to spawn, or you can increase your Catch Combo by catching multiple of the same Pokemon in a row. We caught about 12 Oddish then we saw Bulbasaur spawn in the grass. Chuck it a Razz Berry and fling your balls at it for the best chance to catch it. We’d recommend hunting one down during this early stage as when it learns Vine Whip; it’s your best shot at taking down Brock.

How to get Bulbasaur in Pokemon Let’s Go – Cerulean City

If you don’t want to search for a Bulbasaur early on, you can also wait until you emerge on the other side of Mt Moon and reach Cerulean City. As long as you’ve caught 30 Pokemon in total – of any species, so they don’t have to be unique – you can enter the very first house on the far western side of Cerulean City and a woman will give you a Bulbasaur for free. This Bulbasaur is also guaranteed to have one stat marked as best and two more as fantastic, which is great for battling.

Keep your eyes peeled for our guides to finding Squirtle and Charmander shortly. In the meantime, why don’t you go and get yourself a Mew?
