Bamboo has been around since the beginning of everyone’s escape into Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but with the summer seasonal update in full swing, you can now get a new (much prettier) version of the sturdy plant for a limited time.
Ordering bamboo grass
You can purchase some bamboo grass from the Nook Stop inside your Resident Services building for 3,080 bells. To find the bamboo grass, just go to the seasonal tab in your shopping catalog. Bamboo grass is only available until July 31, as it is in honor of Tanabata. Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, is a Japanese holiday that has been observed in Japanese versions of older Animal Crossing titles.
It’s cool to see some cultural cross-over in the worldwide (or should we say island-wide) inclusion of bamboo grass and the learning opportunity this presents for non-Japanese audiences. At the very least, it’s a nifty new plant you can use to decorate your island when you’re not busy swimming or getting all the other new goodies included in the summer update.
