With Wolfenstein: Youngblood releasing last week, many people are curious about how the game holds up as a smaller addition to the series. We shared our opinions about it in a review when the game came out. However, some players are also wondering how the game’s microtransactions work. Like any modern game, Wolfenstein: Youngblood does come with microtransactions players can purchase to make their time in the game easier. While they’re available, they’re not always a necessary purchase to have an enjoyable experience. We’re going to break down the microtransactions available to players, and what they can provide you.

What sort of microtransactions can you do in Wolfenstein: Youngblood? There’s not as many available as some may believe. While there are multiple currencies, the main, premium currency is gold bars. Players can purchase these bars in varying amounts, listed below:

• 500 Gold bars – $4.99
• 1,100 Gold bars – $9.99
• 2,500 Gold bars – $19.99

Those are all of the available premium transactions players can purchase in the game. Those are not the biggest concern when it comes to microtransactions, though. The big thing has become the debate about how transactions get handled in Wolfenstein: Youngblood. There’s an oddness to the cosmetics in the game. But, what can you purchase with this premium currency?

The only thing players can use this currency on is cosmetic items, such as the weapon skins, power suit skins, and power suit helmets the sisters wear. Players cannot use the premium currency to purchase ability points, additional weapon upgrades, or anything that would enhance their play style in the game.

The alternative, more useful currency, in the game, is known as silver coins. Players are going to find silver coins throughout their playthrough of the game, by completing challenges, missions, or locating them throughout a level in hidden areas. They’re handy as players are going to need them to purchase armor suit upgrades, power-ups, ability points, or alter gameplay options for the two sisters.

The confusing portion lies in the fact some of the boosts are available to purchase with gold bars. But some of the higher-end, more expensive items are not available for purchase using gold bars. Players have to spend a good chunk of silver coins instead to purchase them, which doesn’t feel worth it. Despite the issue, many can focus solely on the number of silver coins they’re spending for their ability points and weapon enhancements. It’s probably a better option, too, as many players don’t need to worry about anything beyond the legitimate gameplay.
