Gauss is coming to Warframe this week. But what is his release date, and what can he do?
Gauss is speeding into Warframe this week. The much-hyped speedster Frame brings all kinds of fun synergistic play with him if his skills are anything to go by. First things first, however. When is Gauss going to arrive in the game?
Gauss Release Date
Warframe updates tend to arrive on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I don’t expect this one to be any different. While it is hard to narrow down a time, updates tend to fall somewhere after 11 am PT. So, it’s impossible to know precisely when he is getting released. We can roughly boil it down to a mid-week timeframe.
This initial release happens on PC only, as usual, with versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch coming a couple of weeks later.
Gauss Abilities
PASSIVE
Never stop moving. Keeping Gauss in motion generates an electrical current that charges his Speed Gauge, recharging Shields up to 80 percent faster, and decreasing recharge delay up to 80 percent.
MACH RUSH
Burst into a hyper-sprint to bowl over enemies and charge the battery, or crash into solid objects to generate a powerful shockwave. Hold to rush continuously.
KINETIC PLATING
Generate armor plating that converts a portion of absorbed Kinetic Damage into Energy, and protects Gauss from being staggered or knocked down. Damage Resistance is relative to battery level.
THERMAL SUNDER
Siphon kinetic energy from the area, charging the battery and inflicting Cold Status on nearby enemies. Hold reverses the process, draining the battery and inflicting Heat Status on nearby enemies.
REDLINE
Push Gauss’ battery beyond the redline, supercharging his Abilities and setting Fire Rate, Attack Speed, Reload Speed, and Holster Rate into overdrive. When past the redline, bolts of arcing electricity dance periodically from Gauss, exploding en masse when the ability is deactivated.
So, Gauss seems like he will be a done of fun to play, demanding a lot of action and decision making to get the most out of his kit, and continually balancing the need to build up and use that electrical current.
