Control – Where To Find The Training Course, Get The Shield Ability

In this guide we will show you how to get to the Training Course in Control, and how to unlock the Shield ability.

As you play through the Directorial Override mission in Control, you eventually come to a room where you need to fix the NSC Energy Converters. Before you go too far into the room, take a look at the gantry above your head to find a folder with information on the Field Training Course. If you complete it, you receive a new ability called Shield.

Control – Where To Find The Training Course

To get to the Training Course, you must first finish up your current mission. Fix the NSC Energy Converters, and then head for the control room, clear out the enemies and hit the switch. Now, follow the signs to the elevator and go down to the Maintenance sector. When you arrive, you will see a room with red objects on the wall, and a blocked doorway called Field Training. Use your Telekinesis to smash objects into the strange red tendrils on the wall to break them, and open the door.

Now, head inside to the Training Course. Run it successfully within the allotted time, and you arrive at a room with an Object of Power surrounded by debris. You need to smash things into it as hard as you can to break up the shield it is casting. Interact with the Object of Power, and you will get teleported to an Astral Plane challenge.

For this challenge, golden enemies that you cannot hurt will be firing at you as you try to cross the level. You will need to use the Shield ability, as well as a reasonable use of cover, to make it safely across. When your Shield breaks each time, run to cover and waiting for your energy to recharge fully, cast it again to make more progress. The ending is slightly ambiguous, but you need to clime the large stack of square pillars the will be in front of you.

Once you get to the top, interact with the chevron there to teleport back out with your Shield ability.
