The Pokémon Go Battle League has been going strong since it was first released early in 2020. There had a preseason where players had the chance to see what the various three leagues were like, the Great, Ultra, and Masters league, limiting players to use Pokémon of a certain maximum CP, 1,500, 2,500, and unlimited, respectfully. These rules have mostly remained the same, but there have been new events and cups, and the Halloween cup wraps up Season 4. When does that end, and when does Season 5 begin?
Niantic has given trainers plenty of time to prepare for the arrival of Season 5 by detailing that the start date will happen on November 9, starting at 1 PM PT. However, unlike the previous seasons in Pokémon Go, it’s going to work a little differently. Previously, each league went on for two weeks, and then the final week in the season, all of them were available for a full week, giving trainers a final attempt to reach the highest rank they could competing against others. This meant a season last for about a month and a half or so. Season 5, in total, will last for three weeks.
The shorter time frame also means that there won’t be any ratings available. Players will progress through the season by merely battling and participating in fights every day, so the more you play, the further you advance, regardless if you win or not. Niantic says it’s doing it to allow trainers to explore alternative options and strategies that they usually wouldn’t attempt to prepare for Season 6.
For those who wanted to try something unique, and use Pokémon that never have the chance to stretch their legs, Season 5 is their time to shine. It all starts on November 9, at 1 PM PT.
