Mega Pokémon are never easy to deal with, and they’re even more fearsome in Pokémon Go. Before you can gain access to the Mega-Evolved form for your Pokémon, you must defeat in a Mega Raid. You want to make sure you have plenty of friends available to help you out because these are on the same level as the five-star raids featuring legendary Pokémon. The same goes for Mega Pidgeot, and you have several options on how to beat it.
Mega Pidgeot weaknesses
Mega Pidgeot is a Normal and Flying-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Electric, Ice, and Rock-type attacks. It’s resistant to Bug and Grass-types, and it’s exceptionally resistant to Ghost and Ground-type attacks, so try to avoid using any of those four choices.
Pokémon to counter Mega Pidgeot
Given Mega Pidgeot’s weaknesses, your best options to defeat it include Magnezone, Rhyperior, and Zekrom.
Magnezone is an Electric and Steel-type Pokémon. It will be difficult for Mega Pidgeot to do too much damage against it with its heavy defenses. Because of how many Electric-type attacks it can know, it can land some heavy blows against the Flying-type Pokémon during the battle. Magnezone has a maximum CP of 3,205, an attack of 238, a defense of 205, and stamina of 172. the best attacks it can know include charge beam for its fast attack and zap cannon or wild charge for its charge move. You want to avoid using any Steel-type attacks.
Next up, you have Rhyperior, one of the best Rock and Ground-type Pokémon in the game. Much like Magnezone, it’s a reliable choice to pick, but you want to avoid using any Ground-type attacks instead of focusing on Rhyperior’s Rock-type attacks throughout the raid. Rhyperior has a maximum CP of 3,733, an attack of 241, a defense of 190, an stamina of 251. While it may have lower defenses, it is resistant to both Flying and Normal-type attacks. The best moves it can learn are smack down for its fast move and stone edge or rock wrecker for its charge move. Unfortunately, rock wrecker is a legacy move, so most trainers will want to rely on stone edge.
The final choice is likely the hardest to acquire, and that’s Zekrom. It’s a legendary Pokémon, so unless you were able to capture it when it was available a five-star raid, you’re a bit out of luck, but it’s an incredible option. Zekrom is a Dragon and Electric-type Pokémon, and it has a maximum CP of 4,038, an attack of 275, a defense of 211, and stamina of 205. The best moves it can know to fight Mega Pidgeot include charge beam and wild charge. Unfortunately, Zekrom has various moves, which is good to make it a versatile choice, but for this raid, you want to focus on its Electric-type attacks exclusively.
There are other Pokémon options you can use against Mega Pidgeot. These moves include Galarian Darmanitan, Zapdos, Raikou, Alola Golem, Rampardos, Jolteon, Gigalith, Mewtwo, Tyranitar, Luxray, Terraikion, Electivire, and Mamoswine.
Once you defeat Mega Pidgeot, you receive Mega Energy to evolve your Pidgeot into is Mega-Evolved form, and you have a chance to capture a Pidgeot at the end of the raid. It can potentially be the shiny version.
