13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is finally available worldwide. Vanillaware’s adventure-RTS title has been available in Japan for some time, but gamers worldwide can get their hands on it following its worldwide launch.
That is, if you own a PlayStation 4. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim can be purchased for Sony’s home console, but some gamers would like to play it on other systems. Namely, those who own a Nintendo Switch have wondered if the Atlus-published game is available to them.
Unfortunately, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim doesn’t have a Nintendo Switch port. Adding to that woe, there is no word on whether it will ever arrive on the hybrid console. While there are no details about 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim being a PS4 exclusive — timed or otherwise — it is unavailable on other platforms.
However, as there is no confirmation about its PS4 exclusivity, it is always possible that 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim could be ported to Nintendo Switch. Vanillaware will be bringing one of their other titles, Shin Megami Tensei V, to Nintendo Switch in 2021, so it is plausible that 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim could follow a similar path.
Shin Megami Tensei V’s port was not without its issues, though. According to former Atlus CEO Naoto Hiraoka, per Siliconera, Vanillaware needed to “experiment a lot” with Shin Megami Tensei V’s development. This is because the game is the first one that Vanillaware has made for Nintendo Switch. Developing a title for a system that’s new to the team means that production will take longer.
If, and when, Vanillaware successfully bring Shin Megami Tensei V to the Switch, it might give them the confidence to port 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim to the same platform. However, for now, you can only buy it on PS4.
