Is there mobile controller support in Genshin Impact?

Can I hook up a gamepad to my phone?

Genshin Impact is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation, and mobile devices. For those playing on PC, iOS, or Android, using a mouse and keyboard or your mobile’s touchscreen controls might make things difficult for you. That’s where controller support comes in handy, and you might find it easier to use a compatible one rather than the game’s other control systems.

PC players are in luck right away. Genshin Impact controller functionality is supported on the PC’s port, according to the game’s FAQ page, but what about iOS and Android users? Is there controller support on mobile devices too?

No, there is currently no controller support for Genshin Impact’s mobile edition. It doesn’t matter if you were planning on using a PS4 or Xbox One controller either, as neither is compatible with Genshin Impact on iOS or Android devices.

This was confirmed by miHoYo, Genshin Impact’s developer, in an email reply to one inquisitive player. Reddit user HolySe7en took to the game’s official Reddit page to post a screenshot of an email exchange with the development team. The initial email asked if mobile controller support was present, and the reply from miHoYo explained that it wasn’t. The team’s response read: “We regret to inform you that controllers for mobile devices are not currently supported.”

However, the development team went on to hint that mobile controller support could be available in the future. The final sentence of their response read: “Please stay tuned for future announcements throughout official channels,” which suggests that a future patch could include controller functionality for iOS and Android devices.
