Zombies mode has been a mainstay in the Black Ops series ever since developer Treyarch first introduced the four-player co-op mode in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War. It should come at no surprise that Treyarch is bringing Zombies back for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. After spending time on detailing the single-player campaign and the competitive multiplayer, the latter through an Alpha and an upcoming Beta, the Call of Duty team will finally unveil some details about Zombies in the new game.
As both the Treyarch and official Call of Duty Twitter accounts state, Zombies for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be getting a reveal on Wednesday, September 30, at 10 AM PT. You can watch this reveal event live on the Call of Duty YouTube channel, or on their Twitch if you’d prefer that platform. The multiplayer reveal for Black Ops Cold War had a bouncy tone and atmosphere as the developers described their game on a studio set. With Zombies being more horror-focused, one wonders how different this reveal will be.
Treyarch and Activision have already been teasing Zombies for the upcoming Call of Duty through their “PawnTakesPawn” viral marketing website, while also dropping some cryptic hints and clips on social media. Come Wednesday, the developers will (hopefully) be a lot more straightforward with details for the reveal, instead of treating every little detail like it’s a National Treasure clue.
Fervent fans of the Treyarch Zombies arc will be eager to see if Black Ops Cold War continues the long-running Aether Story that began with World at War. Black Ops 4 notably took a detour and introduced a new arc known as the Chaos Story. As the Black Ops Cold War campaign is continuing the Black Ops storyline, these fans can hold onto hope that they can see what happens with Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen next; it is worth noting that Treyarch’s tweet announcing the reveal call it a “new” Zombies story, so take that as you will. Fingers crossed for at least a bonus level where you can shoot up zombies as Ronald Reagan and various other deplorable 1980s politicians.
