Remedy Entertainment recently announced Control Ultimate Edition, which will be releasing in September for PC and other platforms with the next-gen versions coming out later this year. The physical editions will be coming out early next year for the next-gen consoles. The Ultimate Edition will include all the DLCs and updates for the game.

For people who are already own the base version of the game, there is some bad news. Players with the original version of the game won’t get a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X versions. However, Ultimate Edition owners will be getting a free upgrade to the next-gen versions of the game.

Given the fact that many developers are giving next-gen versions of the game for free, this move from Remedy Entertainment will surely invite a lot of criticism. The game had received quite good reception from the community at launch and sold pretty well over time. It seems like Remedy is trying to boost sales via this move but it might not turn out well for them in the end.
