Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice does not hold back. After wandering around the first part of the game for a little bit, players are going to encounter their first boss, Samurai General Naomori Kawarada. Naomori has a long sword, and he swings in front of him over a great distance. He’s also the first enemy players meet that has an unblockable attack. Here are the best ways to beating him, and continuing forward in the game.

Best Tips To Defeat Samurai General Naomori

Use Stealth

Use Stealth

The best way to begin this fight is to sneak up on Naomori. You can do so by scaling the rock path on the left side. You can use the gate right before entering the area, or merely use your grappling hook to scale up there. Once you’re up there, proceed forward, jumping on the gate behind him, and jump down. You should be able to sneak up on him to remove on the fatal blows, as long as you mind the breakable carts when you fall.

You also need to remember to remain crouching. If you’re not crouching, there’s a possibility Naomori is going to hear you, and then the fight is going to begin.

Naomori’s Aura Charge

During the fight, Naomori is going to back off and begins to charge up, creating a whitish aura around his figure. When this happens, he’s left exposed for an attack. Now, you can also use this time to use your healing gourd, but you’re going to find it more useful to attack him during this time.

Consistently Dodge

Many of Naomori’s attacks are in front of him and close range. The best way to avoid these blows is by dodging out of the way. However, if you feel the need to block them, do so. Because of Naomori’s strong attacks, it’s going to take time for him to get back into position. Wait for him to stagger, and then lead into attacking him. You can likely get two blows on him before he recovers and is blocking your attacks.

You need to beware for when you see the flashing red symbol. This flashing red symbol is signaling Naomori is about to unleash an unblockable attack on you. Attempting to block this attack only leads to you receiving damage. One useful technique to successfully dodging these unblockable attacks is by jumping out of the way. Jump into the air, more towards the side, and you should avoid it.

If you have time, attempt to jump on Naomori when he’s about to use his unbreakable attack, successfully landing it allows you a brief moment to landing a killing blow on him, removing one of this two charges. If you already attacked him with stealth, he will only have one left.
