We’re near the point where we’re going to get our hands on The Outer Worlds, Obsidian Entertainment’s latest jump into the RPG genre heavily leaning on their experience when creating Fallout: New Vegas. The results are incredibly positive, with many reviewers praising in the science-fiction. It’s a single-player game, and some players have grown used to being able to mod some of their RPG games through Steam. However, The Outer Worlds is only available on the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store for PC right now. Can players use mods?

Does The Outer Worlds have Mod Support?

When the game first launches, the developers are not going to have any mod support available for players to change their game. Typically, when a player wants to add a mod to their experience, they’re going to change the environment, a gameplay mechanic, or something in the files of their favorite title. Some communities have wholly changed the data of a game to improve their experience.

Most developers for an RPG title support these changes because it allows players to continue enjoying their game, but it doesn’t affect anyone else. It’s a single-player game, so it doesn’t matter how much the game gets changed. The developers behind Obsidian Entertainment want to support these creative communities. They want their players to have a good time in their game.

While mods are not going to happen when the game first comes out, the development team assures their community they want to make it happen. Co-director of the game, Leonard Boyarsky said, “We’d love for players to be able to mod. We’re going to look into that after we ship, in terms of what kind of support we can have for it.”

Boyarsky answered this question during a rapid-fire interview with GameInformer back in February, which you can check it out here in a video. For players who are eagerly awaiting for mod support to come out, you’re going to have to grit your teeth and wait for it to release for the public.

The Outer Worlds is going to release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and the PC through the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store on Oct. 25.
