You don’t want to look like a dud in space, and you also don’t want to get shot in the face. In this guide, we will show you how to change your outfits and armor in The Outer Worlds.
Games like The Outer Worlds have two kinds of players. Some folks don’t care how they look, they want the best stats, while others will forego protection to look as nice as possible. I don’t care if I look like a discarded pile of rags and metal, as long as I am nice and safe. The Outer Worlds has plenty of armor and outfit options, so in this guide, we will show you how to equip armor and outfits, and how to get more of them.
How To Change Your Outfit And Armor In The Outer Worlds
Armor and outfits in The Outer Worlds are the same things — the change how you look and provide some form of armor bonus at the same time. As you search buildings and containers in the game, you can come across more, or you can loot them from dead enemies.
To change your outfit, you need to follow the below steps:
- Open the main menu, then select the Inventory tab.
- Click on the Armor sub menu
- Select the armor you wish to wear, and drag it to the relevant slot
- You have two slots, one for outfits, and one for helmets
Each outfit, or piece of headgear, will give you an armor rating, a bonus to a skill, and potentially other benefits, depending on the level of the item. Just like weapons, armor can break down over time, so be sure to repair pieces that you use a lot.
As well as looting them, you can also get new outfits and armor from Vendors in various settlements throughout the game. You will need to pay for these with Bits, and the price can be reduced by gaining a reputation with the Vendor’s controlling faction.
You can also get some armor pieces by killing some NPCs, but that is a particularly cruel way to expand your wardrobe, and will not be looked upon well by other characters and factions in the game.
