One of the most fun aspects of Diablo 4 is the variety of classes that players can choose from. There are five excellent classes for players to choose from, each with unique playstyles, abilities, and mechanics. These are the Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer, and they all feature exciting gameplay opportunities.
Whether you like slinging spells, poison arrows, or smashing enemies into a red mist, they all have something to offer and can be played in multiple ways. In this guide, we’ll detail every Diablo IV class and how they work.
Barbarian
The Barbarian in Diablo 4 is the perfect class for players who want to get up close and personal with their enemies. This mountain of muscle is all about jumping into the fight and dishing out damage with its wide variety of weapons and using shouts to buff their damage, resource generation, and defenses.
This class has the unique mechanic of having an Arsenal of Weapons, which allows them to carry four weapons simultaneously: two one-handed, one slashing, and one bludgeoning. They can swap between these weapons depending on what players choose and specific abilities and can be improved by passives that grant bonuses for using certain weapon types. They also have the Expertise class feature, which sees them gain buffs with certain weapons types the more they use them.
Coupled with high health, great damage reduction abilities, and a good variety of skills, this class is ready for a scrap.
Druid
The Druid is your nature-loving option in Diablo 4 and is one of the most versatile classes in the game. This class can shapeshift into ferocious creatures, the tanky Werebear and the damage-dealing Werewolf, as well as using storm and earth magic to call tornados, lighting, and boulders down on your enemies.
Druid’s unique class mechanic is their Spirit Animal’s which provides boons like passives and stat increases, allowing players to hone and craft their Druid further. They can also summon animals to fight alongside them, including wolfs and ravens. They have a lot of gameplay options and can be a fun pick for players who fancy controlling nature’s wrath.
Necromancer
The Diablo 4 Necromancer is equal parts fun and complex and has a lot of options for players to choose from when it comes to gameplay. This class has the ability to summon undead minions to fight alongside them and use the power of Bone, Darkness, and Blood to destroy their enemies.
Necromancer’s unique class mechanic is the Book of the Dead, which allows players to customize their undead minions with different bonuses and change how they behave. For example, you can give your warriors more defense and health, or have your golems stun and charge enemies. They also use corpses, which can be used to summon minions, as well as a resource for spells like Corpse Explosion. They can be tricky to master, but if you fancy controlling the powers of death and want a complex and powerful option, look no further than the Necromancer.
Rogue
Rogues in Diablo 4 are the quick and agile option for players who want to dash around the battlefield or stand back and rain arrows upon their enemies. They can place traps and use a variety of tools to help control the battlefield, as well as use a lot of Crowd Control abilities to weaken enemies before doing in for a final blow. They also can imbue their weapons with elements to freeze, poison, or damage their foes.
The Rogue’s unique class mechanic is Specializations, which alter your playstyle thanks to some extra effects and quirks to your abilities. There are three to choose from. There are Combo Points, which increase as you fight and you spend to enhance your abilities. Inner Sight, which will provide unlimited energy after damaging marked enemies to fill a meter. Lastly, Preparation lets you use your ultimate abilities more after you spend your main resource more.
If you want a relatively easy playstyle with great damage and plenty of tools to pick and use, Rogue is your best bet.
Sorcerer/Sorceress
Diablo 4’s Sorcerer/Sorceress is a classic high-risk, high-reward Glass Cannon. This class can dish out tons of damage using the elements of fire, lighting, and ice, and what it may lack in defense, it makes up for with major magical destruction.
The unique class mechanics for the Sorcerer/Sorceress is Enchantments, which allow you to slot spells into Enchantment slots and alter how your other spells work to provide passive effects. For example, using Frost Nova will freeze nearby enemies, making it a helpful defensive. However, if you socket the Ice Shards spell in an Enchantment slot, it will freeze enemies and launch Ice Shards that seek out Frozen enemies and deal extra damage. This gives players a ton of customization on how they use their spells and lets you craft truly unique builds.
For anyone who wants to wield magical power and annihilate enemies with powerful spells, look no further than the Sorcerer/Sorceress.
