All Subnautica biomes – Locations, depths, and harvesting nodes

There’s maybe too much to see and do in Subnautica. So much so, its gigantic map has the potential to feel as if you’re in Castaway, and lost beyond repair. Well, aside from the game’s islands and caves, you’ll want to understand the locations of 15 biomes to make way for easier navigation. In addition, some spots become incredibly deep dives. So before you put on your virtual scuba gear, make sure you know where you’re headed.

Blood Kelp Trench

  • Location: Between Sea Treader’s Path and Grassy Plateau in the southwestern region.
  • Depth: 150-675 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Shale Outcrop

Northern Blood Kelp Zone

  • Location: This section is far from the trench which bears the same name, and is actually north of the Dunes biome.
  • Depth: 200-580 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Shale Outcrop

Bulb Zone

  • Location: Bulb Zone is along the northeastern coast, in between Crash Zone and Mountains.
  • Depth: 140-480 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Sandstone and Shale outcrop

Crag Field

  • Location: Crag Field is the southernmost biome and tucked between Grand Reef and Crash Zone.
  • Depth: 12-460 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Limestone and Shale Outcrop

Crash Zone

  • Location: It is the largest of all biomes and takes up most of the southeast region.
  • Depth: 0-370 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Limestone, Sandstone, and Shale Outcrop

Dunes

  • Location: Dunes can be discovered by heading to the furthest location in the northwest.
  • Depth: 65-400 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Limestone and Sandstone Outcrop

Grand Reef

  • Location: This medium-sized biome is the farthest south and rests to the left of Crag Field.
  • Depth: 150-480 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Shale Outcrop

Grassy Plateaus

  • Location: Like the forest biomes, the plateaus are broken into smaller parts and can be discovered in the center of the map.
  • Depth: 50-170 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Limestone and Sandstone Outcrop

Kelp Forest

  • Location: The Kelp Forest, like Grassy Plateaus, is broken into sections around the map. Larger areas of it mainly rest in the middle of the sea, outside the Safe Shallows.
  • Depth: 0-160 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Limestone and Sandstone Outcrop

Mountains

  • Location: This lengthy area is located on the far northeastern end, above Bulb Zone.
  • Depth: 0-500 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Sandstone and Shale Outcrop

Mushroom Forest

  • Location: There are two sections of the Mushroom Forest, each being near the center of the map, divided by the Kelp Forest.
  • Depths: 75-250 meters (west region) and 125-200 meters (east region)
  • Harvesting Nodes: Limestone, Sandstone, Shale Outcrop, and Purple Pinecone

Safe Shallows

  • Location: The Safe Shallows lie in the heart of the map and is inside of the Kelp Forest.
  • Depth: 0-80 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Limestone and Sandstone Outcrop

Sea Treader’s Path

  • Location: The path is south of Dunes on the western border of the map.
  • Depth: 170-360 meters
  • Harvesting Nodes: Shale Outcrop

Sparse Reef

Underwater Islands
