All workbench upgrades in Valheim

The workbench upgrades are extremely important.

When you want to create a shelter in Valheim and begin crafting walls, armor, weapons, and tools, you need to use a workbench. This station allows you to craft quite a few items, and you need to make sure you’re within a certain radius of it to develop any walls. The larger base you want to make, the more workbenches you need to set up around your estate, so you’re not always having to break it down and remake it. When you gain new resources and crafting recipes, you need to upgrade the workbench. There are several upgrades available to you, and each one adds a new level to your workbench.

Chopping Block – Upgrade 1

The chopping block is one of the first workbench upgrades you can learn how to make. It doesn’t require too many advanced resources. These are all of the material requirements to need to make it. You need to make it using your hammer and be in the range of your workbench.

Tanning Rack – Upgrade 2

You’ll probably learn how to make a tanning rack around the same time as when you find the chopping block. It becomes available when you loot deer hide from any of the roaming deer. These are all of the requirements for it, and make sure you are near a workbench.

  • 5 Deer hide

Adze – Upgrade 3

This upgrade will take you a bit more time than the previous two. You’ll learn how to make it when you craft bronze. You can create it by smelting copper and tin and then blending those at a forge. It doesn’t require as many resources as the other two, but it needs to take a bit more time to gather. Here are the requirements to make this upgrade, and you need to make sure you’re in range of a forge when you create it.

  • 3 Bronze
  • 10 Fine Wood

Tool Shelf – Upgrade 4

The tool shelf is another quality upgrade for your workbench. We believe it might be the last one, but because Valheim is in early access, it’s extremely likely there will be more difficult and expanding resources through the game’s development. For now, the tool shelf is likely the last upgrade for the workbench. This is all the requirements for it, and you need to make sure you are in range of a forge.
