March is a pretty packed month for new game releases, but many players are already clearing their schedules for the one game that matters: Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
When it’s released on March 20, the next entry in the beloved series will bring lots of changes, including new characters, new features like crafting, and some long-awaited customization options. Given how anticipated the animal debt simulator is, the best way to make sure there’s room for you on Tom Nook’s island is to pre-order the game well ahead of release.
Unlike a lot of high-profile games, Animal Crossing: New Horizons doesn’t have a lot of options to choose from. There’s no fancy deluxe edition to worry about here, just one standard edition of the game. However, there is still one big decision to make about pre-ordering. Animal Crossing: New Horizons doesn’t have a universal pre-order bonus, but a couple of retailers are offering their own gifts for reserving the game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons pre-order bonuses
There are two pre-order bonuses for Animal Crossing: New Horizons to be aware of. If you pre-order from Best Buy, you’ll receive a “Phone & Tech Badge” featuring a khaki-clad Tom Nook looking ready for a vacation. According to Best Buy, the sticker is reusable and won’t leave any gunk behind when you peel it off.
Target was also offering a bonus, but at the moment, the retailer says pre-orders are sold out. Target’s bonus was a great-looking calendar/journal, and frankly, it’s no surprise that they all got scooped up quickly. That being said, Target does sometimes offer bonuses on in-store pickup for major games, and there’s always a chance that it will get more journals in stock, so it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on the listing if you want to get your own planner.
Where to pre-order Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Other than those two, Animal Crossing pre-orders are also available pretty much anywhere you’d expect, like Amazon and GameStop, but without any bonus items. Wherever you decide to pre-order, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will cost $59.99 and should arrive on your doorstep on March 20.
