Best Essence of Dawning farm in Destiny 2 – Dawning 2020

Speed demons.

The real grind in The Dawning 2020 event for Destiny 2 is getting Essence of Dawning. You need 15 of this resource to make each cake and treat you want to give to characters in the game, and it can be pretty slow to accumulate. You can get it from most activities in the game, but some of them are just better than others when it comes to racking up this important resource.

There are a couple of ways to maximize your time when it comes to getting this resource, but they will be different if you are playing with friends or on your own. Your Power level will also have an impact on what you should do.

Remember, if you get all the recipes for the event, you will be able to Masterwork your Oven, cutting the cost of each treat from 15 to 10 Essence of Dawning.

Heroic Lost Sectors

While we are all used to running 1250 Power Lost Sectors on our own for those sweet new Exotics, you can barrel through them with friends quickly to farm lots of Essence of Dawning. You will get 15-18 per completion and can knock them out in under a minute, depending on the Lost Sector of the day and your loadout.

The Lament Exotic Sword is your friend, as it will cut through all Champions and the boss with ease, making for a swift clear time. Remember, try to have a full Fireteam as it will make the clear even faster, and you won’t be able to get an Exotic drop with two people, so you might as well go all out.

Wrathborn Hunts

If you are on your own or too low power for the Lost Sector method and have a decent loadout, you can do a Wrathborn Hunt. The trick here is to pick a quick one, like the Savek hunt, play through it as normal, get to the second lure section and then just open up your menu and reset your Lure in there. You won’t use up the Lure charge, but you will get to kill the boss, effectively finishing the hunt, and getting 10 Essence of Dawning.

You can do these with a group if you wish. The clear time will be faster, but the trick is to simply not have the person using the Lure land any damage on the final boss. Let the other player finish the fight, don’t hit the boss at all, and it won’t use up the charge either, then you can just restart the Hunt again. Only one person needs an active Lure for this method.

The only downside here is that you need the Season Pass to get access to Wrathborn Hunts.

New Light Players

If you are a true free-to-player, your best return on investment is Strikes. Just jump into the Strike playlist, get matchmade with other players, and get through them as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, there is no really fast method for New Lighters that we have found yet, but we will keep looking.
