Best MyTeam Playoff Underdogs to target in NBA 2K21

2K released a new MyTeam promo on September 29 entitled Playoff Underdogs, as part of NBA 2K21’s One Will Rise series. The new batch of cards are designed to highlight some of the game’s biggest underdogs that have played previously in the NBA postseason. There are five new cards in the Playoff Underdogs promo, and if players collect all of them, those users will receive a Diamond Playoff Underdogs Latrell Sprewell.

But which cards from this promo should you target for your MyTeam squad? Let’s go over the best Playoff Underdogs cards in NBA 2K21.

Jamal Mashburn

Former Charlotte Hornet Jamal Mashburn is the third-highest rated player in this promo. Mashburn (91 OVR) is a good all-around player, as his Playoff Underdogs promo card is equipped with strong Inside Scoring (A) and 3PT Scoring (A) attributes. In addition, Mashburn has the potential to be a solid defender in 2K21, as his B+ Rebounding rating and 6’8” frame should allow you to get a good amount of defensive rebounds. Mashburn might not be the best small/power forward available in NBA 2K21, but his card is a solid grab nonetheless.

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving helped lead an underdog Cavaliers team to an NBA title in 2016, so it makes sense for the now-Brooklyn Nets point guard to receive a Playoff Underdogs cards. Irving is one of two Diamond cards in this promo, and at 93 OVR, it’s one of the better ones you will find among point guards in 2K21. Irving’s special card has exception shooting ratings (A+ Inside Scoring, A- Mid-Range Scoring, A+ 3PT Scoring), and the perimeter defense on it isn’t too bad, either. The one weakness Irving’s Playoff Underdogs card has is inside the paint, but considering that the former Cavs point guard isn’t physically intimidating, that’s to be expected. All in all, this is a great item to pick up if you need a really good point guard. Just make sure you have the currency needed to get it.

Dikembe Mutumbo

Need a dominant big man on your MyTeam squad? Former Nuggets C Dikembe Mutumbo could be your answer, or at least his Playoff Underdogs card could be. The 7’3” big man has the ratings you would expect out of the former NBA legend. Mutumbo’s card has exceptional Inside Scoring (A+), Post Defense (A+), and Rebounding (A+) attributes, meaning that this 93 OVR card should be a force inside the paint. You won’t get much scoring outside of the paint from Dikembe Mutumbo’s Playoff Underdogs card, but if you’re looking for a warrior inside, this card might be just for you.
