How To Link Your Borderlands 3 SHiFT And Twitch Accounts

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Borderlands 3 and Twitch are going to be integrating in some pretty interesting ways, and to take advantage of them you will need to link your Borderlands 3 SHiFT account with your Twitch account.

The Borderlands 3 ECHOcast Twitch extension will do all kinds of interesting stuff when Borderlands 3 launches. You will be able to examine the loadouts and builds of the Streamers you are watching. You’ll be able to check out all the weapons they are carrying and using, as well as their character builds. This way, if you see something that interests you, you can find out the details about it yourself, instead of relying on a busy streamer to notice you in chat.

On top of that, you can also earn loot just by watching streams. It all sounds exciting, and I am sure many people will be taking advantage of it. To do that, you need to link your Borderlands 3 SHiFT account and your Twitch account.

The first thing you need to do is sign up for both services if you do not already have an account. To sign up for SHiFT, follow this link. To sign up for Twitch, follow this link.

To link the two accounts, follow the steps listed below;

  • Sign in to SHiFT
  • Select “Gaming Platforms” on the left-hand menu
  • Click on the Twitch button
  • Log in to your Twitch account
  • Authorize SHiFT access to your Twitch

That’s it; they are now linked up! It is worth doing this before the Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal tomorrow, as you will be able to participate in events on the stream that can get you some free loot when the game launches.

I’m interested to see what Gearbox end up doing with this ECHOcast feature and if other developers pick up on the idea, and expand upon it. Streaming is a huge part of the games industry now, so developers coming up with new and interesting ways for people to interact with their games, even when not playing them, is certainly going to be a good idea.
