Marvel’s Iron Man VRÂ will allow you to embody Tony Stark’s alter-ego when it is released on July 3. The action-adventure FPS title from Camoflaj lets you fly around, take down enemies, and evoke the billionaire playboy genius philanthropist in you.
Even though it has pushed as a virtual reality (VR) game since its announcement, you may be wondering if you can play Marvel’s Iron Man VR without a VR kit. Don your favorite Iron Man armor and chart a skyward path to the answer you seek.
Do I need PSVR to play Marvel’s Iron Man VR?
As its name suggests, Marvel’s Iron Man VR is a VR-only title. That means that you can’t play it without a headset, motion controllers, and everything else that you need to play a VR game.
That will be a disappointing answer to anyone who wants to play the game but doesn’t own a VR kit. Marvel’s Iron Man VR was always billed as a VR-only title, though, so there’s no reason to suspect it being playable with a normal PlayStation 4 controller.
As for whether you can play Marvel’s Iron Man VR with other VR kits, the only VR kit you can use is the PlayStation VR (PSVR) one. We know this because the game’s PlayStation Store listing states a much.
In the description on the Marvel’s Iron Man VR page, it’s revealed that a PSVR kit and a PlayStation camera are required to play it. The PSVR kit is comprised of a PSVR headset and two PlayStation Move controllers, so you’ll need all four items if you want the game to function.
There are physical Marvel’s Iron Man VR bundles available in the US and UK if you don’t own a PSVR kit, but they’ll cost more than the standalone game. You can buy it at any of the retailers listed below:
- Amazon (doesn’t contain PSVR headset)
- Best Buy
- Game (doesn’t contain PSVR headset)
- GameStop
- ShopTo (doesn’t contain PSVR headset)
