Can you get shiny Pokémon from Mega Raids in Pokémon Go?

Mega Raids have various rewards available when you beat them.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Mega Raids have been popping up all over the world in Pokémon Go where trainers can take on some of the toughest Mega Evolutions. The first to be available, Mega Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur. Others will be arriving sometime in the future. To evolve your Pokémon into their Mega Evolutions, you need to beat that Pokémon in the Mega Raid. When you complete the raid, you ha ve a chance to capture that Pokémon’s standard form. When you beat a Mega Blastoise, you can catch a standard Blastoise using Premier balls. Can these Pokémon be in a shiny form?

Yes, they can. Players have confirmed that at the end of the raid, a shiny Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur can show up. Like every shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Go, it’s not guaranteed. More often than not, you will encounter a standard version of it at the end of the battle. You will know it’s a shiny version not only by the different colors of the Pokémon but of the shiny animation that explodes around the character when it appears.

You should be able to do this for every Mega Raid moving forward in Pokémon Go. You can expect it for every Mega Raid unless stated otherwise, allowing trainers to capture a Pokémon in its fully evolved form, rather than looking for a Pokémon’s first evolution. The shiny version does add a new PokéDex entry in your game, showing the unique coloration.
