It is easy to get wrapped up in all the things you can upgrade on your Arsenal in Daemon X Machina. Guns, armor, attachments, processors, and all of them do different things. But, you can also upgrade the Outer, the little guy who pilots the Arsenal suit.

Outers are more than just pilots, as they can also jump out of the Arsenal suit in missions and fight on foot. More than that, upgrades to them can even affect how the Arsenal suit itself performs.

How To Upgrade Your Character

Character Upgrades

You can upgrade your character in the Lab, which you find in the main Hangar area to the left of the central console. It costs credits to upgrade, and you can earn credits by completing missions and selling gear.

You can make upgrades to your head, torso, and legs, and there are different levels available. You can only purchase one upgrade from each level, so read the upgrade decision carefully before deciding what you want to get. Some of the upgrades affect your Outer, while others lead to buffs for your Arsenal. Depending on your preferred playstyle, it might be a good idea to map your potential path through the upgrade trees. You want to make sure you get everything you want.

You also need to build into certain upgrades. You will notice that each upgrade connects to other upgrades on the next level, and you need to be able to join the dots, so to speak, to be able to purchase them.

As you get further up the levels, the Upgrades become extensively expensive, so you will need plenty of credits to max out your character. While the upgrades may appear only to give small benefits, they can combine with your loadout and armor choices to make a difference. If you play as your Outer a lot, the upgrades can make an enormous difference in how they play.
