Destiny 2 – How to Earn Faction Reputation and Rewards

The factions from Destiny 1 are nowhere to be found after the Cabal attack, but there are other ways to raise your reputation and earn rewards.

Destiny veterans will be missing the likes of Dead Orbit, the Future War Cult, and New Monarchy NPCs because they offered easily accessible rewards that were awarded to Guardians who raised their respective Faction Reputation high enough. In Destiny 2 those original factions are still missing and we’re not sure what their role will be when the dust settles from the Cabal attack. There are however other factions and ways for Guardians to earn more loot.

How to Earn Faction Rewards

There are several different ways to increase your reputation with each Faction NPC. Some are as easy as looting treasure chests or competing in Public Events. You will be able to find Tokens that can be redeemed with each Faction’s NPC. While Guardians in Destiny would collect planetary materials in order to upgrade weapons, the only materials that can be gathered at the various locations are now redeemable for Faction Reputation.

Each location has its own Faction Reputation and Rewards. We’ve listed their all their details below. You can gain reputation and earn tokens but you cannot receive rewards until you’ve rescheduled level 20.

As you progress in the campaign, two of the original Vanguard Guardians, Commander Zavala and Ikora Rey, join Lord Shaxx and the Gunsmith at The Farm in offering Faction Rewards. Details on what activities to participate in to raise your Reputation with each Faction at The Farm are listed below.

Faction Rewards – Commander Zavala

You can earn reputation with Commander Zavala by running Strikes and completing Challenges. You’ll be awarded with Vanguard Tactician Tokens which can be traded in for Faction Reputation with him.

Faction Rewards – Ikora Rey

In order to raise your Faction Reputation with Ikora, you have to complete Meditations in order to obtain Vanguard Research Tokens.

Faction Rewards – Lord Shaxx

For those Guardians that prefer to face other Guardians in PvP combat, Lord Shaxx is ready to hand out rewards if you raise your Faction Reputation high enough by redeeming Crucible Tokens earned by competing in the Crucible.

Faction Rewards – Arcite 99-40/Banshee-44 (Gunsmith)

Arcite 99-40 may be the most bad-ass looking frame in the Destiny universe. He’ll also let you earn reputation by redeemed Gunsmith Materials which you obtain by dismantling Rare or Legendary gear.

Faction Rewards – Earth – Devrim Kay

The gentleman sniper will reward you with Faction Rewards when you reach a high enough reputation level by turning in EDZ Tokens or Dusklight Shards.

Faction Rewards – Titan – Sloane

Field Commander Sloane runs the Faction Reputation system on Titan and will reward you for turning in Arcology Tokens or Alkane Dust.

Faction Rewards – Nessus – Failsafe

You can raise your Faction Reputation with Failsafe, the AI on Nessus, by redeeming Nessus Tokens and Microphasic Datalattice.

Faction Rewards – IO – Asher

Asher Mir may not be your biggest fan, but he’ll reward you if you turn in enough Io Tokens or Phaseglass materials.
