Destiny 2‘s new Warmind DLC marks the return of the Sleeper Simulant, an Exotic Heavy Fusion Rifle from the previous game. It is locked away behind some questing, and a whole lot of killing. In this guide, we will show you how to get your hands on it.

How to Get The Sleeper Simulant

To begin the quest for the Sleeper Simulant, you first have to finish the story missions for the new DLC. Once you have done this you can speak to Ana, then Zavala, to receive a campaign Exotic in the form of a new Helmet for your class. Return to Ana, and finish up the new missions she has available for you. Once you have completed Legacy Code, and A Piece of the Past, she will give you a new Legendary Hand Cannon. She will also have one more quest for you, called Violent Intel.

For this mission you must kill Cabal and Hive enemies in the new Mars Basin area. You need to fell your enemies with precision kills, and you must use the IKELOS Legendary Hand Cannon that Ana gave you. You will have noticed already that the weapon looks like a Hand Cannon version of the Sleeper Simulant. This can take a little while to do, so just do Patrol missions, murder any enemy you see on the Mars Basin, and partake in some Public Events.

Once you have achieved 100% of the kills you need for both enemy types, a new step called Rasputin’s Calling will begin. This mission requires you to kill powerful enemies, so you will be looking for those big chaps with the names, and the yellow health bars. You don’t need to do this part on Mars, and can just pick off any named enemies you see, anywhere in the game.

Once that is complete, the next step in the quest is called Warmind’s Glory. This time, you need to finish five Heroic Strikes. Make sure your Power level is as high as it will go, then jump into the Heroic Strikes playlist for some good old fashioned shooting.

Finally, you need to finish the Nodes and Protocols step. This requires you to play the Escalation Protocol mode, and access 15 Sleeper Nodes. For the Sleeper Nodes, you will need some Override Frequencies, which we have covered in our helpful guide. Thankfully you don’t need to finish the Escalation Protocol, which would be very difficult at this point. Simply finish as many levels as the quest requires and you are good to go.

Once you have achieved this, you should see a dialogue box that says “Perfected Form”. Now you just have to replay the Will of the Thousands Mission with the IKELOS Hand Cannon from Ana Bray equipped, then you can return to her to receive your Sleeper Simulant.

It is quite a grind, in total, but the Sleeper Simulant is a fun weapon, and is especially good at cutting through large enemies. It might just be useful in the new Raid Lair, or perhaps the Escalation Protocol. If you need help with other aspects of Destiny 2, be sure to check out our helpful GUIDE HUB.
