Does Snivy have a shiny version in Pokémon Go?

What are your chances?

Collecting Pokémon and adding them to your PokéDex is a big draw for plenty of players. In Pokémon Go, not every creature you encounter works the same way. Some will only appear in specific parts of the world, and some only appear during particular events, especially if you can only encounter them during raids. Snivy is one of the more common Pokémon who frequently appears for Unova-related events, and Niantic did not release a shiny version.

While Snivy did not release with its shiny appearance turned on, for the Unova Celebration kicking off on January 5, that will be changing. There’s a chance that the Snivy you encounter in the wild could be a shiny variant, and catching this version unlocks it in your PokéDex. Once the event concludes on January 10, moving forward, every Snivy has a chance to potentially be shiny, allowing all trainers to get one for themselves. The Unova Celebration event also features Genesect (burn drive) for the first time, but that one is only around for a limited time, and it will not have a shiny version.

Snivy was one of the three starting Pokémon you could choose to begin with in Pokémon Black and White. It’s a Grass-type Pokémon and has three evolutions, much like any other start Pokémon featured in the franchise. Its final evolution is Serperior, a Grass-type, and it has a maximum CP of 2,227, an attack of 139, a defense of 173, and stamina of 154.

Because of these lower stats, it’s not ideal to use in the Ultra League, and it falls short in the Great League. Unfortunately, even if you were to capture one with the best stats, it’s not a good Pokémon to use in PvP battles, and the same goes for any Pokémon raids. Snivy is definitely something to capture once and fill your PokéDex, but there’s little use for it after that. At least it has another shiny to your collection.
