After receiving a delay, Watch Dogs: Legion just received a multiplayer update that allows you to play the game cooperatively with your friends. The update added four new modes: Free Roam, Co-Op Missions, Tactical Ops, and Spiderbot Arena. The new update is great for those who want to play the game with their buddies. However, what if you would like to play with a friend who owns the game on a different system?
Unfortunately, as of this writing, Watch Dogs: Legion does not support crossplay functionality. It also does not allow for cross-generation play. For example, players who play on a PlayStation 4 can’t play with others who are playing the PlayStation 5 version. The same goes for those who play on Xbox One and the Xbox Series X/S.
However, there is some good news. Through the game’s official Twitter account, the team responded to a user who asked about cross-generation functionality. The official team stated that while both crossplay and cross-generation play is not available at the time, the development team is working on adding the feature to the game. An update that enables both of the features will be available sometime in the future. There was no specified date on when that future update will arrive.
