To celebrate the launch of the new leaderboards for the battle league in Pokémon Go, developer Niantic is launching the first Go Battle Day event featuring Marill. During the event, players who participate in the battle league have the chance of encountering a Marill after they win specific battles. The hope is to have players acquire capture Marill to evolve one into Azumarill, a Water and Fairy-type Pokémon that many trainers use during the Great League.

You will only be able to encounter Marill for the Go Battle Day event on Sunday, April 12, from 11:00am to 2:00pm in your local timezone. During that time, you will encounter a Marill for your first and third battle rewards while participating in the Battle League for the basic tier. However, if you use a premium battle pass, every win will be Marill. It does not disrupt other potential encounters, such as players reaching rank 10 receiving their encounter with a Libre Pikachu. All players will be able to participate in 20 battles during the day rather than the standard 15.

When you capture Marill, you will receive twice as much stardust as you generally would. You will not, however, obtain more Marill candy, potentially making it limited to how many players will be able to evolve a Marill during this event. The Master League will be going on during this time, which means players can use any of the available Pokémon they have ever captured with no max CP restrictions. It could make it more difficult for players who struggle in the Master league to obtain a Marill during the event.

We could see more Go Battle Day events in the future following this event. It will likely feature a decent Pokémon trainers often use in one of the battle leagues to help those who want to continue to develop their skills. Hopefully, if we do, the future ones feature the particular Pokémon coming with additional candy.

Don’t miss the Marill event starting on Sunday, April 12, going from 11:00am to 2:00pm in your local timezone.
