It should go without saying that this article will have spoilers in it. It is being written to answer a question that people are asking, but I’m going to drop another spoiler warning here for you anyway. Why? Because it’s polite, and we are talking about a game that people have looked forward to for a long time, and want to enjoy at their own pace.

With that said, it is bandage off time, so read on to find out the fate of the Carmines.

Gears of War 5: Does Carmine Die? (SPOILERS)

Look, the Carmines might be ten-a-penny in Gears of War, but that’s no reason to assume that their family business seems to be getting involved in brutal, soul-crushing wars. What is surprising is that there are so many of them because the Carmines are NOT a lucky bunch. Anthony Carmine died at the House of Sovereigns as he tried to get his Lancer working again. Benjamin Carmine died in the Riftworm, so definitely not the nicest way to go. But, let’s talk about the characters in Gears 5 that are trying to carry on half of the Carmine family legacy, and avoid the other half.

Lizzie

Sadly, Lizzie does die in Gears of War 5. JD Fenix and his squad find themselves trapped on the wrong side of Settlement 2, with no apparent way to get to the evac location. Lizzie comes to the rescue in her truck, but a huge host of Locust show up. JD convinces Baird to fire the Hammer of Dawn, using JD’s own suit to track the weapon. JD then goes for the hero play, wiping out the Locust. All seems to be well until the Hammer of Dawn starts doing its own thing, firing randomly and eventually taking out Lizzie’s truck while JD was trying to help her out.

Lizzie passes away, and JD is in a coma for months. JD had been portrayed as reckless, often not thinking about his own safety or others, and the loss of Lizzie has deeply affected him.

Clayton

Clayton is the one who manages to make it to the end of the game, but I won’t give any more specific details than that. After all, you were curious about how he might die, not how he might live.

So there you go, now you know the faith of the Carmines in Gears of War 5.
