How does the Global Challenge Arena work for Pokémon Go Fest 2020?

Global challenges will have plenty of rewards.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

During Pokémon Go Fest 2020, players will have the chance to complete global challenges occurring throughout the day. These global challenges will rotate each hour alongside the available virtual habitats. You will have a limited time window to complete a global challenge, but it will come with a hefty reward to everyone attending the event.

A global challenge will happen when one of the virtual habitats occurs during the Pokémon Go Fest 2020 for those attending. Five different virtual habitats are rotating throughout the event:

  • Fire
  • Water
  • Grass
  • Battle
  • Friendship

The global challenge will relate to the active virtual habitat. For example, when the fire habitat is active, Fire-type Pokémon will be spawning more frequently for an hour. The challenge could center around everyone attending the event to capture a specific number of Fire-type Pokémon. For the friendship habitat, all trainers may need to send gifts to their friends.

When you complete a global challenge, it unlocks an exclusive bonus for the duration of the habitat’s available time. We’re not too clear about the bonus, but it should be something substantial to motivate trainers to try and complete the challenge as fast as possible. The quicker they complete the challenge, the longer it remains active.

You will need a Pokémon Go Fest 2020 ticket to attend the event. It will be available virtually, so everyone in Pokémon Go can attend, but it will cost $14.99. It will be from July 25 to 26, from 10:00am to 8:00pm, in your local time.
