Marvel’s Avengers will be jam-packed with content when it launches on Sept. 4. There are a single-player campaign and multiplayer missions to work your way through, but there are other in-game challenges that you can play alone or with some friends.
One of those optional challenges will be HARM Challenge Rooms. These were teased during the Marvel’s Avengers July War Table livestream, but you probably have more questions about how they’ll work. That’s where we come in. Put on your favorite Avengers costume, and let’s dive in together.
What are HARM Challenge Rooms?
HARM Challenge Rooms or Holographic Augmented Reality Machine Challenge Rooms are virtual training simulations. They let you take on increasingly difficult waves of enemies with up to three friends, solo, or with companion AI Avengers alongside you.
HARM Challenge Rooms allow you to practice with different heroes, gear, and skills, which will give you an idea of how they play with your specific loadouts. As the Avengers are extremely customizable, you’ll want to use HARM Challenge Rooms to check if your equipment for each hero works the way that you want it to, and see how well it’s balanced against your friends’ heroes or companion AI.
As teamwork is a fundamental part of Marvel’s Avengers, HARM Challenge Rooms are vital in finding out which hero combinations work best together too. Meanwhile, the different waves of enemies will give you an idea of how tough certain missions, War Zones, and other challenges will be when you select them from your Helicarrier’s War Table map.
How do I access HARM Challenge Rooms?
You can access HARM Challenge Rooms by heading to the HARM Challenge areas of the Helicarrier, which are dotted around its interior.
You won’t gain access to them until you unlock the Helicarrier through Marvel’s Avengers single-player campaign. Once you do, these will be available for you to train in.
Are HARM Challenge Rooms available in the Marvel’s Avengers beta?
Yes, they will be. You’ll start off in the HARM Room Training mission, which will show you how to control each hero available in the beta.
Once you’ve completed this, you’ll have access to three HARM Challenge Rooms that you can complete solo or online with your mates. If you complete all three, you’ll earn a rare nameplate, which will carry over into the full game when it’s released.
