Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord

How to increase your Clan Tier in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord

Make them remember you.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Increasing the size of your Clan is very important in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. It will directly impact your ability to get through the campaign, and the higher your Clan tier, the more companions you can have in your party. This is very useful as companions and soldiers can do tasks that you don’t want to do yourself, and they can also have important jobs within your clan that improve on your stats.

To increase your Clan tier, you will be looking to earn renown. Earning renown is a long and drawn-out process, and is the real-time gate for the campaign.

You can gain renown in many ways. The most obvious is by winning battles. The higher the difficulty of the fight, and the greater the enemy forces, the more renown you can earn. Taking on armies that are much larger than your own will speed up the rate at which you can earn renown, but this comes with its own risks, as you actually need to win the fight.

You can also earn renown by winning tournaments at the Arena in any large city. Just click on “Go to the arena,” then “join the tournament” to take part.

Completing quests for other characters is an excellent way to earn renown. When you visit a new city or town, check the list of NPCs in the top right of the screen. Anyone with a question mark has a quest that you can complete for renown and improved diplomacy with their clan or faction.

One of the more impactful ways to earn renown is to attack towns and cities, but this has far-reaching consequences for your diplomatic options in the game, so you should always think carefully about who you plan to attack.
