How to beat Rotgut in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

The quicker you beat him, the less amount of time you have to spend looking at Rotgut.

Rotgut is one of the nastier NPCs you can encounter in Maldraxxus, and that’s saying quite a bit about the creepy crawlies in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. Thankfully, you don’t have to put your hands on him, but you will have to best his team of pets to knock out the Extra Pieces pet battle world quest.

Rogut has three separate Leftovers on his team, which all come in the form of severed limbs. We’ll approach this two ways; the first way involves a team full of all Level 1 pets, while the second allows you to use a specific team so you can earn the Level 25 achievement for pet battles.

Level 1

To defeat Rotgut’s team at the initial pet level, bring a team that consists of the following:

  • An aquatic pet who uses Water Jet
  • A beast pet with the Claw ability
  • A mechanical pet with a no-cooldown ability that dots and deals damage (Flamethrower is an excellent choice here)

This sequence is relatively simple. Use water jet to take down the first Leftover, followed by Claw for the second, and Flamethrower for the third.

Level 25

If your pets are all leveled, choose this combination: Spring Rabbit, Alpine Hare, and Dust Bunny. Putting in three bunnies allows you to survive several waves of attacks in time to secure the win with your final pet.

Begin the fight with the Spring Rabbit, and follow this sequence: Dodge, Stampede, Flurry, Dodge, and Stampede. Your Spring Rabbit will fall, and now you can switch to the Alpine Hare to use Dodge, Flurry, Stampede, Dodge, and Stampede. With only your Dust Bunny remaining, use Dodge, Flurry, Flurry, and Burrow. This will send Rotgut packing.
