How to beat the Empowered Mawsworn Flametender in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

Delete this elite.

As you slaughter your way through Torghast in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, you’re bound to come across an Empowered Mawsworn Flametender (EMF). Unlike their non-empowered counterparts, this elite is an absolute chore to deal with if you’re not prepared.

The EMF has the unfortunate (for you) ability to heal itself, potentially back to full health, with Inner Flames. It’s crucial for you to have something that can interrupt this cast. Priests can take advantage of Catharstick, which you can use to store up the damage you take before casting Shadow Word: Pain to unleash a massive hit. If you can store four of these, it should take down the EMF to around 20% of its health, and now you’re free to interrupt any healing attempts with Fear.

If you have an arcane mage, you could also use Time Warped while using all of your damage cooldowns. Counterspell is a great tactic to cancel Inner Flames, and even if some of the healing gets through, you can use Evocation to take care of the rest of the EMF’s health. Otherwise, your best bet is to go into this fight with a group and be sure that everyone has a chance to interrupt Inner Flames while keeping track of your cooldowns.
