How to catch Cresselia during the Sinnoh Throwback Challenge 2020 in Pokémon Go

The final week of the Throwback Challenge 2020 has arrived to Pokémon Go. With it, the final legendary Pokémon is now available for players to potentially capture, but first they need to complete all of the available challenge steps for the Sinnoh Throwback Challenge to receive it.

The final Pokémon is Cresselia, a Psychic-type Pokémon. It has the maximum CP of 2,857, an attack of 152, defense of 258, and stamina of 260. It is an excellent Pokémon to take with you into the Ultra League, but not so great in the Masters. For those looking to round out their Ultra League up, completing the Sinnoh challenge to capture this Pokémon gives you an excellent opportunity to lurch ahead during Season 2 of the battle league.

Before you have the chance to capture it, you need to complete these eight sets of research tasks:

Step 1

  • Catch a Rock-type Pokémon – 500 Stardust
  • Catch 3 Grass, Water or Fire-type Pokémon – 10 Poké Balls
  • Power up a Pokémon – Burmy encounter

Rewards: Rare Candy, Cranidos Encounter, 2 Golden Razz Berry

Step 2

  • Catch a Grass-type Pokémon – 500 Stardust
  • Take a snapshot of a Grass-type Pokémon – 5 Razz Berries
  • Send a gift to a friend – Combee encounter

Rewards: Rare Candy, Grotle Encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berries

Step 3

  • Catch a Fighting-type Pokémon – 500 Stardust
  • Make 3 Nice throws – Magnetic Lure
  • Hatch an egg – Bronzor Encounter

Rewards: Rare Candy, Monferno Encounter, 2 Golden Razz Berries

Step 4

  • Catch a Water-type Pokémon – 500 Stardust
  • Earn a candy from walking with your buddy – 10 Great Balls
  • Catch a Ground-type Pokémon – Skorupi encounter

Rewards: Rare Candy, Prinlup Encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berries

Step 5

  • Catch a Ghost-type Pokémon – 500 Stardust
  • Battle another trainer – Charged TM
  • Use 3 Berries to help catch Pokémon (any type of Berries will do) – 1 Sinnoh Stone

Rewards: Rare Candy, Drifloon Encounter, 2 Golden Razz Berries

Step 6

  • Catch a Steel-type Pokémon – 500 Stardust
  • Give 3 treats to your buddy – Hippopotas encounter
  • Catch a Steel-type Pokémon – 500 Stardust

Rewards: Rare Candy, Shieldon Encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berries

Step 7

  • Catch an Ice-type Pokémon – 500 Stardust
  • Evolve a Pokémon – Gible encounter
  • Earn a candy from walking with your buddy – Glacial Lure

Rewards: Rare Candy, Abomasnow Encounter, 2 Golden Razz Berries

Step 8

  • Catch an Electric-type Pokémon – 500 Stardust
  • Power-up a Pokémon 3 times – Starpiece
  • Make 3 Great throws – Fast TM

Rewards: Rare Candy, Shinx Encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berries

Step 9

  • Claim reward – 3,000 XP
  • Claim reward – 3,000 XP
  • Claim reward – 3,000 XP

Rewards: 10 Rare Candies and the final reward of a Cresselia encounter.

You can use any of your available berries in this encounter to assist in you capturing the Pokémon, along with any PokéBalls. Your Cresselia will also have the event exclusive grass knot. you have until the end of May 28 to capture this Pokémon before the event is over.
