How to complete the Hoenn Celebration event special research task and reward in Pokémon Go

The Hoenn Celebration is in full swing.

The Hoenn Celebration event is live in Pokémon Go. It’s one of the many region-based celebrations happening in the mobile game that have been leading up to the big Kanto Tour that will be available for a single day in February. It’s the 25th anniversary for Pokémon, and Pokémon Go wants to make sure all players have to celebrate.

There’s a special research task happening today that will reward players Kyogre candy, Groudon candy, and a special encounter with a Rayquaza that can learn the exclusive move hurricane. All you have to do is finish all of the tasks before the event is over, and the Rayquaza encounter is yours. The Hoenn Celebration event kicks off on January 19 at 10 AM and continues until the 24 at 8 PM in your local time zone.

All of the Hoenn Celebration event special research tasks and rewards

These are all of the special task that you need to do to receive your Rayquaza encounter.

Task 1

  • Catch 2 Kyogre – 10 Kyogre candy
  • Catch 2 Groudon – 10 Groudon candy
  • Catch 30 Pokémon – 30 Poké Balls

Rewards: 3,000 XP, 1 Silver pinap berry, and a Rayquaza encounter with the exclusive move hurricane

For this event, it appears there’s only one task for players to compete, so it’s not too difficult. However, it does require for trainers to complete four raids. Two of them have to be Groudon, and the other two need to be for Kyogre. You need to capture the Pokémon both times after completing the task, so if you don’t catch it after the raid, it might not count and you probably have to do it again.
