How to customize your longship in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Raid in style.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

A Viking longship tells the story of the places the crew had conquered and keeps a clan working together to find the next location to raid. In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the longship you travel in reflects your personality, much like the Eivor you play. For those looking to customize your longship, you won’t be able to do it immediately, but the options do open up after you’ve completed a few tasks.

The only way to customize your longship is to unlock the shipyard in Ravensthorpe, your settlement. The shipyard does not become available until you’ve reached settlement level two, so you will need to raid and pillage to acquire raw materials and supplies to reach that point.

After reaching settlement level two, you’re ready to work towards unlocking the shipyard. You can find the sign for it next to the docks. Much like all of the buildings and upgrades to your settlement, you need raw materials and supplies to construct it. If you do not meet the requested requirements to unlock it, search out any monastery on the world map to raid it, obtaining the supplies you need. When you add the shipyard to your town, speak to the owner, Gudrun, about customizing your ship.

You will be able to modify these sections of your longship at the shipyard.

  • Hull
  • Sail
  • Shields
  • Figurehead
  • Tailpiece

Every player has access to at least two types for each category, the Raven Clan and Wanderlust versions. You can find more customization options hidden all over Valhalla, and some may even be able for you to purchase from local traders you meet in new towns.
