Rocks are annoying and everywhere where you don’t want them to be in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

While the large boulder rocks can provide you with resources and bells, sometimes, you want to get rid of certain ones that block a path or build you had in mind. While they were a constant annoyance in the previous games, Nintendo has finally added a way to get rid of them and told no one how to do it.

Thankfully, we figured it out by trial and error and can pass on those precious details onto you on how to remove rocks on your island so you can continue with your mega builds and grand designs.

To remove those pesky stones from your island, you’ll need to eat a piece of fruit and wield a Shovel. Once you have eaten the fruit, you will be strong to hit and destroy the rock with your shovel, removing it from its current place and leaving an item behind in its place.

Granted, this won’t get rid of the rock completely as it’ll still spawn in a different random place the next day you log in, so prepare to potentially hit and smash rocks multiple times to get them to respawn in an area you are fine with them being. You’ll usually have six rocks on your island at all times, so trying to get them in a good spot will be tricky.

Of course, rocks won’t spawn in areas that already have something on the ground (say a path) or a structure, so it might be best only to smash a rock once you have completed a project fully to decrease the risk of another spawning in the same area.
