Final Fantasy XIV lets you level every single job on one character, including crafting jobs. Instead of running dungeons for experience points, Disciple of the Hand professions level up by crafting. You get a standard amount of experience points just from making items normally, especially if they’re high-quality or crafting a new item for the first time. Completing tradecraft levequests, or crafting levequests, is one of the best ways to level up quickly.
Unlock levequests in the three starter cities
New players will need to unlock levequests first. These include battlecraft leves for battle jobs, tradecraft leves for crafting jobs, and fieldcraft leves for gathering jobs. Continue with your main scenario quests until you complete one of the following level 9 quests, depending on your starting city — “Way Down in the Hole” (Ul’dah), “Just Desserts” (Limsa Lominsa), or “Spirithold Broken” (Gridania).
Once you finish your quest, head to your city’s adventurers’ guild where your inn room is. You’ll find a Levemete NPC offering a level 10 quest for you — “Leves of Horizon” (Ul’dah), “Leves of Swiftperch” (Limsa Lominsa) or “Leves of Bentbranch” (Gridania). Completing this quest will unlock low-level battlecraft leves, as well as all tradecraft leves in the cities.
Pick up levequests in your level range
Up until level 50, you won’t find all tradecraft leves in one place. Tradecraft leves for only levels 1-45 are in the starter cities. On top of that, only certain cities have certain crafting leves available.
- Ul’dah: Alchemist, Goldsmith, Weaver.
- Limsa Lominsa: Armorer, Blacksmith, Culinarian.
- Gridania: Carpenter, Leatherworker.
Thankfully, the tradecraft leves for higher levels are all in one place, depending on the level range. Level 50-58 tradecraft leves are in Ishgard. Level 60-68 leves are in Kugane. Level 70-78 leves are in the Crystarium. This pattern will continue as the level cap rises.
You then pick up levequests with leve allowances. Head to your journal and check your levequest allowances listed at the bottom. A single allowance allows you to pick up a single levequest. Everyone gains 3 allowances every 12 real-life hours, for a maximum of 100. Check the Timers list in the menu to confirm when the next levequest allowances go out.
Craft and turn in the item(s) listed in the quest
On the levequest page, your objective lists the item(s) needed. Sometimes you only need to make and turn in a single item. Other times, you’ll need 3 of an item. You can turn in either normal quality items or high-quality items. High-quality items earn you double the rewards, so it’s worth it to go after these whenever you can. Additionally, some levequests will ask you 3 times to turn in more items. These 3x turn-in requests for a single leve are the most efficient use of your allowances.
If you don’t feel like crafting the items, you can buy them on the market board. There are entire markets dedicated to selling items for these specific 3x turn-in leves. You’ll usually find these HQ items available for sale across all servers. But you do get extra experience points simply from crafting the items yourself. So it’s just a matter of how you’d rather spend your time or money.
