How to find and capture an Atlas Moth in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Get to it.

A new month in Animal Crossing: New Horizons brings with it a bunch of new fish and bugs to add to your collection as you try to complete the Museum, but some are harder to come across than others.

One of these you might have trouble with is the Atlus Moth, a large, rare spawn in New Horizons that players will only come across occasionally.

Not only is it hard to find, but hard to catch as well. The slightest movement will make it fly away, and then you have to pray to the RNG gods that it will appear again.

So how exactly do you find and capture one of them?

Atlas Moths only spawn late, between the hours of 7pm until 4am, and are usually found hanging onto Pine Trees or Palm Trees.

They are available between April to September in the Northern Hemisphere islands and will take a while to find one. They are seemingly harder to come across in April and a little bit easier to find as the months go on.

When you do come across one, get out your net and hold A, approaching the Moth as slowly as you can while it moves. When it stops moving, you stop, and as soon as you get close enough to it, go for the catch and let go of your A button.

It should then be yours to do what you want with it.
