It happens to the best of us. We make a purchase and immediately regret it. Here’s how to get your V-Bucks back by requesting a refund in Fortnite.
There’s no doubt that part of what has made Fortnite such a smash hit is the fact that it’s free-to-play. Epic Games makes boatloads of money, however, on purchases of V-Bucks, which are used to buy in-game items ranging from Battle Passes to cosmetic items. Whether or not you make any investments in Fortnite is entirely up to you, but what if you’ve purchased something by mistake or changed your mind about that specific Panda outfit you just dropped a couple of thousand V-Bucks on?
Can I Get a Refund in Fortnite?
The short answer is that it depends. Most cosmetic items are eligible for a refund, but items that are consumed upon use, such as Battle Passes or XP boosters, for example, are not eligible. Be sure to pay particular attention to the bottom right of the screen. If you see that notice there, be aware that your V-Bucks are going to be gone for good following a purchase.
Even for items that are eligible for a refund, keep in mind that Fortnite has a strict limit of three lifetime return requests. Each time a refund is approved, you burn one of the return requests for your account, and once you’ve used them all up, that’s it; no more refunds for you, ever.
How to Request a Refund in Fortnite
If you’ve made a purchase and want to request a refund, head to the Settings icon hidden behind the hamburger menu and locate the Account tab. You will see how many lifetime refund requests you have remaining here, along with a “Submit a Request” button.
Requesting a refund is a three-step process, beginning with choosing the item you want to return. You’ll be presented with a list of eligible items that you’ve purchased in the past 30 days. After selecting the undesirable item, you choose from one of three reasons for your refund request. They’re pretty standard reasons: Accidental Purchase, Unauthorized Purchase, and Item Not As Expected. Pick the reason that best describes your situation and move on to the third and final step.
After confirming your decision to request a refund two more times, you’ll be shown the result of your request. Hopefully, this will be a successful return, and the appropriate amount of V-Bucks will be returned to your balance immediately.
