Mini-games pop from time to time in Deadly Premonition 2, and bowling is particularly important to progress your investigation for reasons that are still a little beyond us. York needs to play bowling, but the lane is under the control of an old lady who is not willing to give it up. To deal with this, York can visit a shop and buy a strange alligator statue and leave it outside her house after 10:30 pm, neatly distracting her and allowing him to get a game in.
The mini-game isn’t something you can skip and you need to get a strike in order to progress. After a bit of trial and error, we discovered the best tactic is just to smash a heavy ball straight down the lane, slightly off-center, to get the strike.
Choose a 16-pound ball, then set your stance just slightly to the left of the center of the lane. Try to land within the top 80 percent of so for the strength of the shot, and give the ball just a little bit of right spin.
This should guarantee you the strike, as it worked perfectly for us, and gets a strike each time we managed to replicate it in the mini-game. It might take a little while to get the same results we did, as the meters for the strength and the spin move pretty fast. Mostly it is down to trial and error, but we absolutely recommend going with the heavy ball, as it does make getting a strike much easier.
