A new item added to Pokémon Sword and Shield with The Isle of Armor DLC expansion is Armorite Ore. You can use it as a form of currency with some of the NPCs on The Isle of Armor. When you offer it to them, the NPCs are more than willing to do strenuous tasks for you, such as digging up Watts or trying to receive more Armorite Ore by digging it up and teaching your Pokémon new moves.
You encounter Armorite Ore shortly after completing the first task in the Master Dojo. You will reach this point by naturally proceeding through the story of The Isle of Armor. Every player will receive five at the start. You can also find them at shiny spots all over The Isle of Armor to add more to your collection.
After you receive these five pieces, you can use them for trading with Digging Ma and Pa. Pa is at a static location in Training Lowlands, and you can approach him to trade Armorite Ore for him to dig up Watts. The first time you meet him, he willingly offers his service for free. Digging Ma is more on the move and bounces around The Isle of Armor. You won’t find her in the same location too often because of her rotation. When you do find her, she will ask you for Armorite Ore to dig up more, but there’s a good chance her shovel will break, causing you to lose more. You can risk this gamble.
Another NPC you can meet after picking your Squirtle and Bulbasaur is someone you can only speak to after progressing through The Isle of Armor story. The NPC is one of the fighters at the Master Dojo, to the right of the battle court. Speak to him to have him teach your Pokémon one of these available moves:
- Terrain Pulse
- Burning Jealousy
- Flip Turn
- Rising Voltage
- Grassy Glide
- Triple Axel
- Coaching
- Corrosive Gas
- Scorching Sands
- Dual Wingbeat
- Expanding Force
- Meteor Beam
- Poltergeist
- Scale Shot
- Lash Out
- Steel Roller
- Misty Explosion
A reliable way to obtain Armorite Ore regularly is by completing the various raid battles you see around The Isle of Armor and approaching the dens glowing with energy to defeat the powerful Pokémon residing inside of it.
