Venturing for Redeemed Souls in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will force you into The Maw, the abyssal wasteland of the new expansion. You won’t often have business here, but this deathly hallows (no, not that one) is good for one rare currency in Shadowlands: Redeemed Souls.
Your covenant’s weekly quest will send you to The Maw to rescue a specific number of Redeemed Souls every seven days. When you first align with a covenant, you can fetch up to five souls, but as your reputation increases, you can net as many as ten Redeemed Souls each week. After rescuing them, you don’t have to transfer them anywhere, as the game will automatically place your souls into your Anima Reservoir.
Redeemed Souls are vital for covenant upgrades. The souls you earn will eventually unlock a transport network in your covenant’s region, the Anima Conductor, and more Adventures from your covenant’s mission board. As it stands now, Redeemed Souls can not get you any cosmetics — you will only use these for covenant upgrades, but this could change in the future.
Currently, your weekly quest in the Maw is the only location where you can earn Redeemed Souls. It’s a slow progression for upgrading your covenant, which might be a balancing act for how much Anima you can earn throughout Shadowlands in other activities. Think of Redeemed Souls as a hot commodity that you should value when you can get it, and spend it wisely on your preferred upgrades.
