How to lift the desk for the Overdue Endeavor chore in Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse

Point-and-click adventure games often require players to do some unexpected things to forward the plot. This is true in Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse, where early in the game, you are tasked with returning a carpentry book to the librarian, so she doesn’t bash in your “little bitch knees.” Rough school. This main quest will require the player to locate the book in question and then find the proper items to retrieve and return it to the librarian. Here is how to lift the desk and retrieve the carpentry book for the Overdue Endeavor main quest.

The Overdue Endeavor will become available immediately after you hang up the three flyers for Sawyer across the high school. She will tell you how the librarian was looking for you. Go into the library, and you will find the librarian behind the counter. She will threaten you over some overdue books until you agree to find a carpentry book for her.

Finding the book is relatively easy after some exploring. Getting it, on the other hand, is tougher. Find the shop class, and you will see the book pinned underneath the teacher’s desk. Next to the desk is a lever that will lower a chain from above, so you need to find the right items to use with the chain to lift the desk.

Before you leave the shop class, grab the box cutter sitting in the foreground next to the cut-off finger.

Next, you need to go to the school’s gymnasium. To the right of the entrance is a climbing rope. Use the box cutter on it, and you can add it to your inventory. That is one essential item we need to lift the desk down.

The second item we need is sitting in the janitor’s closet, but it is locked. You can find the janitor in the cafeteria, where he is barely cleaning because of the divorce he is going through with his wife. If you ask him where his keys are, he will tell you he left them in one of his crying spots.

The crying spot where you can find the keys are in the boiler room. You can find it to the right of the door to the gymnasium where you got the rope. Walk in, and the keys are hanging underneath the Freddy Krueger glove.

When you have the keys, go to the janitor’s closet. You will find a pulley here, which is the second item you need to lift the desk.

Now it is time to return to the shop class. Before you can do anything in there, though, you need to combine the rope and pulley. Simply open your inventory and drag one over the other to do so.

Back in the shop class, use the rope and pulley on the chain and Coop will throw it there.

Pull the lever, and the desk will raise, letting you grab the carpentry book. With that in your inventory, return to the librarian who will give you a coupon for a free pizza completing the Overdue Endeavor quest.
