This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The Spyglass, also known as the Telescope, is an item in Minecraft that launched alongside the 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update. Spyglass allows players to see far distances through a circular lens. This guide will walk through the steps required to craft it.

Required materials

  • 2 Copper Ingot
  • 1 Amethyst Shard

To begin, open up your Inventory, navigate to the crafting table, and toss in 2 Copper Ingot and 1 Amethyst Shard and craft them together. And there it is, the Spyglass — it’s as simple as that. Copper Ingot is sourced from smelting Copper Ore in a furnace, while Amethyst Shards are obtained from breaking Amethyst Clusters.

Drag the Spyglass from your Inventory into one of the bottom Hot Bar slots for ease of accessibility. Then, select the Spyglass so that your character is holding it. Point towards a faraway direction of interest and right-click, zooming in towards your target. While zoomed in, there is a box-like, faint filter that outlines the subject. Select F1 to disable it, giving you a clear view, and select it again to turn it back on.
